Going one step ahead of biometric-based attendance system, the Gujarat Education Department has decided to implement a broader system to monitor physical presence of students and teachers in state-run schools as well as colleges with the help of ''''live web streaming'''' of video or photographs of classrooms.

Haryana Finance and Industrial Training Minister Capt Abhimanyu today inaugurated the Entire State Biometric Attendance System in Government Industrial Training Institute, Ambala City.

Aadhaar-based biometric attendance systems for central government employees will be fully operational by the end of this month.

"The biometric attendance system for central employees will be fully functional by the end of this month," Information Technology Secretary Ram Sevak Sharma told PTI.

According to Sharma, the attendance of the employees can be tracked through a website, attendencedotgovdotin, which would be fully operational by the month-end.
